ARK was a collaboration with Thanos Polymeneas Liontiris, a project that happened within Moving Ground @ Duncan Centre, Athens. So far, it has taken place between December 2021 and December 2022.
With the help of the different communities that are involved in the life of the Duncan Centre, we revived what used to be the living room of Raymond and Isadora Duncan. Our aim was (re)turning this lovely room into a living space fitting best the needs of the communities that rotate around it, underlying its central role to the life of the Duncan Centre.
The project took a very long time to be realised, as it coincided with a new season in our life as a family: the arrival of our second child. It has been though a steady hum in the background of our very chaotic lives. And it still is: we don’t feel this project has ended, and the room will keep getting modified to best fit the needs of its role.
As in the best Permaculture practice, ARK has now a life of its own. For its future, we envision a series of happenings, one-to-one performances, mini-concerts, projections and mini-lectures. We like to think of it as a hybrid space, between living-room, conservatory, and mini-theatre.
